Dates and Topics

  • Sugar Maple Tapping Course at Wesselman Woods
Saturday, January 17 from 9-11 AM  •  Presenter: Derek Walsh, Director of Natural Resources and Research at Wesselman Woods
    • Discover one of winter’s sweetest traditions at Wesselman Woods! Join us for our popular Maple Tree Tapping course and learn how sap is transformed into syrup.

During this hands-on class, guests will get a crash course in the ecology of sugar maple sap production, learn about the process of tapping, and help us install the taps directly into the trees as part of our annual maple sugaring season. This long-running program is a community favorite and offers a rare opportunity to take part in an age-old practice right here in the forest.

Participants will also have the option to sign up to help collect sap throughout the season, playing an active role in the process from tree to syrup.

  • Additional courses to be announced.

Cost: $20 for public / $15 for members and Indiana Master Naturalist Alumni

Email info@wesselmanwoods.org for the promo code.

Audience: Ages 18+

No additional volunteer hours are required for these sessions.

Looking for continuing education hours for Advanced Indiana Master Naturalist (AIMN)? These courses will fulfill those requirements.
