Phase 1: Applying for the Registry
Do you own or operate a Canadian-built and BC-registered heritage vessel?
The Western Canada Heritage Vessel Registry (WCHVR) is dedicated to recognizing and preserving historically significant vessels built in Western Canada. The Registry promotes high standards of preservation, raises public awareness of maritime heritage, and supports the sustainable conservation of our floating history. A permanent, publicly accessible record is maintained for each vessel on the Registry.
Vessels are considered in a three-phase process:
Phase 1 - Application Fee - $50.00 CAD
Phase 2 - Assessment Fee - $150.00 CAD + any direct costs associated with getting to/from the vessel location subject to agreement in advance
Phase 3 - Registration Fee - $125.00 CAD

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Registry, your vessel must be:
1. Built in Canada;
2. Currently registered or licensed in British Columbia;
3. Currently afloat and in good condition;
4. Currently more than 50 years since Year Built;
5. Not less than 6 m / 20' in overall length.
Future consideration may be given to vessels from and in operation in other jurisdictions.
Next Steps:
You will be contacted in [INSERT TIMELINE] with the status of your application. If an applicant vessel is selected for Phase 2 – Assessment, further documentation on the vessel will be requested. Please refer to the “Guidelines” document on the WCHVR webpage.
