Snowshoes on Sand: Creative Aproaches to Nonprofit Advocacy for Winter 2026-2027

Registration ends Monday, 11/16/2026 5:00pm EDT

About This Event

Nonprofits are great at empowering and lifting the communities they serve, but often struggle to tell their own stories or feel entitled to make a strong case for themselves. In 2026’s funding landscape and policy reality (including lists of words nonprofits aren’t supposed to use anymore), nonprofits must change that mindset to ensure sustainability in both funding and core values. This workshop will equip attendees with the tools to meaningfully and legibly bring their advocacy goals to legislators, governing bodies, and decision-making audiences.

Through a one day session, attendees will be encouraged to approach the advocacy landscape as it exists with grit and creativity.  Specific deliverables include: The strong bones of 1) a one-pager on their topline ask (either financial or policy, bring both if you aren't sure or want to explore both) for 2027 and 2) a grassroots mobillization plan to activate their membership.

Table for Two: Each participating organization should send a team of two to the workshop. They will be asked to work together to achieve these goals, so they will optimally be positively established collaborators. Ideal candidates would be folks in a decision-making role and an advocacy/public affairs/media role.
