About This Event

Paddle with a Purpose: White River Canoe Cleanup

Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
Meeting Location: Philips School Number 63 (1163 N Belmont Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46222 on the North side of the parking lot)
Time: 12:00pm – 4:30pm

Join us for a unique and impactful way to help keep the White River clean—from the water! Volunteers will paddle the White River, removing trash, debris, and illegal dumping along the way. This canoe-based cleanup is a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the river while making a difference for our environment and local wildlife.

This event requires participants to navigate the river by canoe while collecting debris. We encourage those who are comfortable canoeing to register. If you have experience paddling and can handle a few hours on the water, we’d love to have you join us.

Why Volunteer?

  • Experience the river up close while making a tangible impact
  • Help protect wildlife and maintain a clean waterway
  • Meet fellow nature lovers and conservation advocates
  • Enjoy a scenic paddle while giving back to your community

What to Bring:

  • Clothes and shoes that can get wet and muddy (we recommend breathable long sleeves and long pants)
  • Hat and sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses)
  • Reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
  • Dry bag for personal items (optional)

Canoes, paddles, life jackets, cleanup supplies, snacks and drinks will be provided.

If you're ready to make a difference, sign up today!
