Welcome to the registration page for the Stars of the North's Girls in Aviation Day 2024!
#GIAD24 will be held at Jet Linx at Flying Cloud Airport on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM!
This is a free, limited-space event for the community to learn more about the aviation industry.
The content of GIAD is geared toward girls ages 8 to 17, but everyone is welcome to attend!
Bring your family, friends, troop, and group to learn more about STEM and aviation careers, including pilots, mechanics, and MORE!
Hosted rain or shine - we'll see you there!
Pilots, aircraft, local companies, aviation schools, and many professionals will be on hand to discuss careers in aviation and STEM to help inspire future generations to follow their own dreams into a future in aviation.
Representatives from commercial aviation, the US Military, corporate/business aviation, general aviation, Collegiate, UAV, and MORE will attend this event to meet with you!
Hands-on educational activities will be demonstrated in The Discovery Hangar to help attendees learn about the principles of aviation and STEM!
Food trucks will be onsite with food for sale, and attendees are welcome to bring their own food and beverages as well—please no glass and no alcohol.
How to get involved:
- Attend the event! Bring your family and take part in all the fun GIAD has to offer. Preregistration is preferred and can be done on this page.
- Volunteer at the event! Share your passion with the attendees of the event by volunteering with our Discovery Hangar activities. Multiple roles and various shifts are available for GIAD. Preregistration is preferred, and pink volunteer t-shirts are reserved for those who register in advance. Bring a friend and share the fun experience!
- Exhibit or display at the event! Set up a booth as your brand/company and share what you do in STEM, aviation, and aerospace with GIAD event attendees. Static aircraft displays are also welcome; let us know what you'd like to bring so we can plan our space. Pink t-shirts will be available for pre-purchase for exhibitors, so choose your size(s) on the registration page.
Sponsor the event! A free event like GIAD can only be held thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, like YOU. We are a 501(c)3, and your contributions are tax-deductible. Levels of support are available to fit nearly any budget.

Rising Stars Program!
This limited space program focuses on girls going into grades 9 to 12 for Fall 2024 and includes a t-shirt, lunch, swag, and MORE! Please complete your GIAD registration, then visit this link to register for the Rising Stars program: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/wia/event/giad2-rsrc/
This event requires an early arrival; Rising Stars should be onsite by 9am please, and picked up at 1pm.
Parking will be on the south side of Flying Cloud Airport through Gate J at 15269 Charlson Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347
Please allow for time to get parked and into the event space.
We aim to have a string backpack supplied for every child attendee, so your advanced registration helps us to plan how many of those we'll need. Note that quantities are limited, and we will likely run out!
Should you wish to purchase kits in advance, they are available at WAI.org.
You won't want to miss the many fun activities happening at the Stars of the North Chapter booth! We'll have prizes for the bingo game, chapter info, WAI details, scholarship info, and more!
RAFFLE TICKETS - purchase tickets at the Stars of the North booth.
Limited Girl Scout-style Aviation Fun Patches will be available at the Stars of the North booth - check in with the volunteers at the tent for yours!

- GIAD volunteers should be age 18 or over. An event t-shirt and lunch will be provided! Many helpers are needed for an event like this: training is provided, and there are many different role types to choose from. Thank you in advance for considering giving your time to the event!

Photo Permission and General Release of Liability: I hereby authorize WAI, the Metropolitan Airports Commission, and its affiliates to publish any photographs or videos taken of me or my minor child(ren) for use in WAI’s printed publications, website, and other mediums, and for training purposes. I release WAI and its affiliates from any expectation of confidentiality and attest by my signature that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) listed and that I have authority to permit WAI to use said photographs and/or video for promotional and training purposes. I acknowledge that participation in the event is voluntary.
