Raíces en la Naturaleza: Weaving Workshop
Join us for a FREE, hands-on weaving workshop exploring the traditions of plant-based basket weaving and the relationship between people, plants, and the natural world. No previous experience is necessary - all tools and materials will be provided! Reservations required - space is limited.
We’ll begin with a short presentation about how plants have been gathered and used for basket weaving across Hispanic and Latin American traditions, exploring the materials, techniques, and knowledge passed down through generations. Then it’s your turn to weave! While traditional baskets are made with plant materials, we’ll be using yarn to learn and practice basic weaving techniques - and create a woven square to take home. Kids and adults are welcome, though minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
