About This Event

great falls (1).pngWinning the Earthquake Book Tour: Conversation with Jeannette Rankin biographer Lorissa Rinehart

Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025
11 AM – 12:30 PM MST

C.M. Russell Museum
400 13th St N
Great Falls, MT 59401

Please join us for a conversation with author Lorissa Rinehart to celebrate the launch of Winning the Earthquake, a new biography that captures the bold life and legacy of one of Montana's most impactful figures, Jeannette Rankin — the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress and a lifelong advocate for women's and children's rights, peace and justice. The nationwide series of book talks and events, sponsored by the Jeannette Rankin Foundation, includes a special celebration at the C.M. Russell Museum with Rinehart and former Museum Executive Director Chris Warden, a Rankin Foundation steering committee member. It will be a powerful opportunity for the community to reflect on Rankin’s fearless leadership and enduring vision for our country.

Founded with a bequest from Rankin’s estate, the Rankin Foundation carries her mission forward by awarding unrestricted Scholar Grants to women students — age 25+ in Montana and 35+ nationwide — who are transforming their futures through education. More information at rankinfoundation.org.

Copies of Winning the Earthquake will be for sale at the Museum store, and the biography will be the Russell Book Club January 2026 selection. Space is limited. Please RSVP your attendance by clicking RSVP on this page and be entered to win a signed copy of Winning the Earthquake at the event!
