According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, there are 463,634 victims of sexual violence every year in the U.S.

One every 68 seconds.

In 1999, the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction citing that the victim must have helped her rapist remove her tight jeans, thereby implying consent. On the following day, the women of the Italian Parliament wore jeans in solidarity with the victim.

And, Denim Day was born.

On April 30, 2025, during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, organizations worldwide will participate in Denim Day.
