Family Day - Animal Evidence!

Registration has ended

About This Event

Is your child bored at home on a day off from school? Join us for a nature-filled day with fun and learning for all ages. This is a one-day program for children aged 5-12, accompanied by an adult of their choice.

Discover the clues wildlife leaves behind at Family Day - Animal Evidence at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge!

Join us on Monday, February 16, 2026, for a hands-on family program that explores the fascinating signs animals leave in nature. Families will investigate tracks, bones, feathers, and other evidence to uncover what animals live in our area and how they survive. Through interactive activities and exploration, participants will learn how to think like wildlife detectives and piece together the stories hidden along the trails.

This engaging event is perfect for families looking to learn together, get outside, and see the refuge in a whole new way.

What’s included:

  • Tracks and Traces Hike – Head out on the trails with our educators to discover all the signs animals leave behind.

  • Hands-On Activities - Get up-close and personal with some animal artifacts!

  • Campfire Treats – No family day is complete without a sweet reward! Families will gather around the fire* to roast marshmallows and enjoy s’mores provided by Cedar Run. *Fire rating dependent (don't worry we'll do something else fun if a fire isn't an option!)

Details at a Glance:

  • Who Can Attend: Children ages 5–12 with at least one accompanying adult. No less than 1 adult per 3 children.

  • When: Monday, 2/16/26 · 10:00am – 2:00pm

  • Cost: $35 for each child and adult pair. Additional children are $15 each and additional adults are $10 each.
