About W.O. Smith Music School

In 1984, late jazz bassist and professor William Oscar Smith envisioned a music school that would serve his beloved Edgehill community, which primarily consisted of lower-income families. For the past 39 years, W.O. Smith Community Music School has provided thousands of affordable lessons & classes to Nashville's underprivileged youth. For only $.50 a lesson, our school allows families to enroll their children, ages 8-18, in quality music instruction that they'd otherwise be unable to afford. This is only made possible through our skilled, musical volunteers.

We transform lives through music.
