About This Class
In this 8-session generative course, you'll consider a new perspective on your stories. We will examine examples of innovative and hybrid memoirs by Patrick Rosal, Lia Purpura, and Randon Billings Noble and respond to creative nonfiction writing prompts. We'll look at shifting perspectives, lyric essay forms, and get inspired by our own archives and memories. We’ll experiment with hybrid writing exercises designed to help you write about difficult topics, break free of writing ruts, and find energy in your writing projects moving forward.
Participants will be able to submit workshop pieces for feedback starting in the third week of class. This course welcomes anyone wanting to build community with other writers, hone their skills, read new works, and learn about new forms. It is open to writers of all levels.
