About This Class
Writers have their obsessions. Moments and images return to us, swirling in the laundry machine and record-skip of memory. In this generative workshop, we’ll celebrate the impulse to repeat ourselves and practice using form, perspective, the fallibility or fictive opportunities of memory, and more to bring new light and shape to a narrative repeated across poems or lyric fragments or short stories–inspired and guided by the writing of Victoria Chang, Bhanu Kapil, Paul Tran, Ross Gay, T Kira Madden, Melissa Febos, and more. Students will enter this class with one set “story” they intend on writing multiple times, and will filter the same basic material to create entirely independent, uniquely living pieces of writing. This workshop is intended for writers of all genres!
- In-Class Writing Lift: Heavy
- Homework: Required
- Workshopping Drafts: None
