Terri's been with us since the beginning
Terri joined us as a peer coach in 2009. We celebrated her 15 years of sharing addiction wellness this summer with donuts, video messages from those she's helped and custom Face It TOGETHER Converse.
2009
Our original name, logo and branding at a reception in 2009. We added the word TOGETHER to convey community; too many people impacted by addiction feel extremely isolated and alone. We dropped the exclamation point (too confrontational) but left “Face It” in our name. We wanted it to serve as a call-to-action, but it’s also intended to conjure the real people – the faces of survivors and others in the community impacted by addiction – to help remove some of its stigma.
2012
In 2012, we made waves in Sioux Falls by launching a Portraits of Recovery campaign. It was important to us even then to destigmatize addiction and move it out of the shadows of anonymity and into the light of celebration and community.
2012
Our Portraits of Recovery campaign featured individuals and families in the community who were willing to share their stories of hope. We still hear from individuals who remember this campaign and how meaningful it was at the time.
2023
Carlos is a former member of Terri's, and he now volunteers as a Spanish-speaking coach.
