Tuesday, 2:30 – 4:00 PM ET: Feb. 24, Mar. 10, 17, 24, 31

Course Tools: The well-known Soviet folklorist Abba Lev travelled with Sh. An-ski through the pogrom-plagued areas of Western Ukraine and helped him collect documents and materials which An-ski incorporated into his work Khurbn-Galitsye. At the same time, Lev gathered a rich collection of Yiddish idioms and sayings whose publication was interrupted by World War II and then by Stalin’s persecution of Yiddish and Yiddish writers. These treasures were shut away until they were entrusted to the writer and editor of Yiddish Branzshe Boris Sandler.

Additional Info: This course is conducted entirely in Yiddish.
