Advanced with Yitskhok Niborski: The Loshn-Koydesh Component in Yiddish II, Practical Orientations

Monday, 1:00 – 2:30 PM ET: Feb. 23, Mar. 9, 16, 23, 30, Apr. 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11

Course Goals: The second cycle will begin with an overview of the main points of the first cycle: the roots and the word families around them, the letters that can act as articles or prepositions, and certain word structures. Further topics: 1. Other grammatical patterns; 2. The construct state (possessive connection); 3. Suffixes indicating person (expansion); 4. Irregular roots; 5. Other prepositions; 6. Idiomatic idiosyncrasies (humoristic, parodic, and pejorative nuances).  

Course Tools: For every point, there will also be fitting sayings and other folkloric and literary materials where the loshn-koydesh word plays a central role. 

Additional Info: This course is taught entirely in Yiddish.
