Course Goals: This course offers a systematic and in-depth exploration of Yiddish grammar through a step-by-step study of the parts of speech. We will return to the basics in order to build a solid grammatical foundation, beginning with nouns and gradually moving toward more nuanced and advanced topics, such as adverbial suffixes and the use of possessive pronouns after nouns.
Course Tools: Throughout the course, we will work with examples from both classical and contemporary Yiddish literature. Students will have ample opportunities to practice newly acquired knowledge through guided exercises and by writing their own texts.
