Monday, 4:45 – 6:15 PM ET: Feb. 23, Mar. 9, 16, 23, 30, Apr. 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11
Course Goals: To read (at least some of) Chaim Grade's story, Mayn Krig mit Hersh Rasseyner, partly reading together in class and partly at home. Students will be able to choose passages to discuss. The course is meant to help students who want to start reading more literature in Yiddish and to practice Yiddish conversation while analyzing/arguing over the text.
Course Tools: Mayn Krig mit Hersh Rasseyner / My Quarrel with Hersh Rasseyner by Chaim Grade, Bilingual English-Yiddish edition, translated and with an introduction by Ruth R. Wisse, available for purchase here.
Additional Info: This course will be conducted in Yiddish. Students should be comfortable reading in Yiddish, but it's ok if this is your first attempt at reading a full story in Yiddish literature.
