Zayt Gezunt: A Yiddish Dance Class for All! with Steven Lee Weintraub and Deborah Strauss (mini-course)

Start the New Year off in a creative and healthy way with a five-session online Yiddish dance class with dance master Steven Lee Weintraub and klezmer musician Deborah Strauss. Yiddish dance is the dancing connected to klezmer music and works well on Zoom because great Yiddish dance style includes a vast range of movements that can be done either seated or standing while facing the camera. Yiddish dance encourages community and connection. It’s also accessible and fun!

In this five-session course, we’ll work on our individual style and also on dancing with each other. Yes, even on Zoom! In addition, each session will begin with Steven’s famous klezmer etudes—a unique way to warm up gently while practicing the basic patterns of Yiddish dance gesture and style.

Come express yourself and move to inspiring klezmer music and your favorite Yiddish songs while enjoying the company of a wonderful group of people from around the world.

No previous experience or specific dance knowledge needed. This class is suitable for all ages and abilities. All are welcome.
