Join us for a night of inspiration at the Young Reader of the Year Awards! We're excited to recognize the incredible achievements of the 4 outstanding students enrolled in our Joyful Readers tutoring program who have made big strides in their reading over the past school year. Through the support of their reading tutor and family members, students will share the highlights of their reading journey.
This celebration brings together more than 250 fans and supporters of Joyful Readers, including educators, equity-in-education advocates, school administrators, and all the people working to make children’s lives better throughout Philadelphia. Guests will have the opportunity to meet our cohort of dedicated tutors while learning more about the research-driven approach that shapes our reading program.
Tickets to this cocktail-style event are free. Friends, colleagues and family members are welcome to attend. But this evening is not just a celebration; it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of Philadelphia’s young readers. A donation is a wonderful way to show your support of Joyful Readers' literacy efforts throughout the city.
The event takes place at Esperanza Arts Center, a multi-service education and community arts events center located in Huntington Park. Located at 4261 N 5th Street, the venue is attached to a large parking lot where guests can park at no charge.
Throughout the night, heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served, along with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. While we don't have a specific dress code, we encourage guests to dress up in either business or cocktail attire.
