YouthBeat is gearing up to host our annual Spring Student Film Showcase, but this year we are taking it to the big screen at the Grand Lake Theater!
The YouthBeat Spring Showcase celebrates the amazing creative work of 400+ Oakland public school students we serve throughout the school year. Our showcase highlights a dynamic range of student produced media featuring short films, animations, podcasts, and more. From comedy to critical issues, each production reflects the perspectives of our youth on life, creativity, and the topics that matter most to them.
Join us on Tuesday, May 19th for a night of fun and inspiration as we celebrate Oakland youth and the power of multi-media storytelling. Doors open at 4:30pm, program begins at 5:00pm.
Screening Schedule:
5:00pm- Take One: Emerging Voices- Join us to celebrate our up-and-coming storytellers, showcasing films and animations from students at the beginning of their creative journey.
6:15pm- Intermission
6:30 pm- Take Two: Featured Works- Come see our accomplished filmmakers and animators, presenting standout short films that push creative boundaries and showcase confident storytelling, refined technique, and distinct artistic voices.
