Men are especially encouraged to walk in high heels, symbolizing empathy, and a commitment to challenging harmful stereotypes and violence against women. This impactful walk brings together people of all ages to raise awareness, show solidarity with survivors, and inspire meaningful change.
About the Event
Participants quite literally walk one mile in high heels to spark conversation and support people affected by sexual assault and domestic violence.
Hosted by YWCA Hanover, this annual event supports Safe Home’s critical programs that provide safety, advocacy, and resources for survivors in our community.
Why It Matters
Violence affects individuals and families across every community. By participating, you help:
Raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence
Support survivors and amplify their voices
Fund essential YWCA Hanover Safe Home services, including a 24-hour hotline, counseling, and crisis support
Encourage healthy, respectful relationships
Every step taken is a statement: violence has no place here.
Participants are encouraged (but not required!) to walk in high heels. Comfortable footwear is also welcome!
