Quick backstory: 9 days postpartum in 2019, with a BP of 218/108 and so swollen with 35+ lbs in water weight plus all the classic preeclampsia symptoms, I was hospitalized with severe postpartum preeclampsia. Had I not gone to the ER that night after taking my BP with a CVS brand cuff, my life could have been very different. I had lots of health issues for the 1.5 years after that to include kindey disease, liver disease, high blood pressure with meds, a broken foot from the intense and rapid swelling, PPA/PTSD and lots of therapy, high A1C, panic attacks. 

Sadly, my story is not unique. And not everyone gets a happy outcome for Mom or baby.

I started this event which was supposed to be a one time event with me running 140 miles in 90 hours in Melbourne, FL (home of the Foundation) with the last 5k being a traditional 5k race to finish it out. Well, Covid happened.... had to cancel our race (complete with legit course, timing etc) and I decided to move virtual in hopes a few people would join.

And join they did

Through this event, over 800 individuals have joined us the last few years and we have raised over $54,000 for the Preeclampsia Foundation for research and access to blood pressure cuffs. We virtually met with survivors, listened to researchers and doctors, and created a community.

It's been amazing  And although this is the last year for this large event with medals - we are not stopping. So stay tuned for 2026 and beyond!!
