My Story

This will be my 4th year participating in this event as well the surf clubs. Being a firefighter, it is our job to help those in need, and that's what this organization does and that's why we want to help. Before I had graduated high school I had moved eighteen times. Even though my parents had split at a young age, they did their absolute best to stay involved in my life and provide the best environment possible. There are so many youths that don't have parents, stability at home, or role models. This organization fills that gap for so many boys in need of just that. Help us by donating so this organization can continue to make a positive influence on so many for years to come. As the President of the department surf club I have started a team of fellow San Diego firefighters that will join me and individually catch 100 waves in an effort to raise money. I myself am going to donate 1 dollar per wave. I encourage you to donate, what ever the amount may be. But also come down to the beach to enjoy a beautiful day and support everyone involved. My wife will be donating the Ibuprofen and hopefully a warm bubble bath after. Hope to see you there…. The beach not the bubble bath

Fatherless boys are disproportionately more likely to end up in prison. The prison incarceration rate more than quadrupled since 1975. A boy leaving high school to enter into a life of crime or drug abuse can cost his community $1.7–$2.3 million in his lifetime. Costing taxpayers $75 billion a year, 5% of the adult male population is in or has been in prison.

·       85% of youths in prisons grew up in a fatherless home.

·      71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.

·      80% of rapists with displaced anger come from fatherless homes.

·      63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes.

·      Gang membership increased from 50,000 in 1975 to 1,150,000 in 2008.

·      90% of homeless children are from fatherless homes.

·      85% of children with behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes.

·      90% of adolescent repeat arsonists live with only their mother.

I am taking the 100 Wave Challenge for Boys to Men Mentoring in order to support their efforts to bring positive male mentorship to hundreds of young men in San Diego County.

Boys to Men Mentoring is a nonprofit organization facilitating consistent group mentoring for the fatherless, at-risk, and disconnected teenage boys of San Diego County. Through strategic partnerships with local middle schools, high schools, and community partner locations, Boys to Men connects teenage boys with compassionate mentors who provide the encouragement, empowerment, and accountability they need to thrive.

There is nothing more powerful than surrounding a young man with a community of support and giving him the opportunity to reach his fullest potential. I hope to do that this year by attempting to catch 100 waves in one day to raise money and awareness for Boys to Men.

Please consider making a donation to my page and help me support these young men who are working to be the best they can be!
