I found Jack listed on PetFinders as Cascades Humane Society had no small dogs at that time.  I was interviewed and they checked my veterinarian and my groomer for references.  Picked Jack up in 2011.  He was 2 years old,  underweight and had been abused to the tune of a broken back and a broken tail.  He had spent his life in a cage.  The rescue group took most of the dogs from that house but left 8 dogs with the woman after they were spayed or neutered.

We bonded so quickly, but he was jumpy.  Now I can't leave the room without him following and when I go to the kitchen to fix dinner, if I haven't checked on him in 15 min. he barks and barks until I check on him.  Then he settles back down until the next 15 minutes.

Jack's favorite pasttime is chasing chipmonks up the downspouts.  He will not leave until he is sure they are not there anymore or until I physically pick him up and bring him in.  He can hear those little devils from the house and he is off and running to the door wanting outside.  Glad I have a fenced in yard.

Jack behaves pretty well except when it comes to barking.  I had to teach him a lot of words as he had been neglected and didn't know hardly any words.  But we communicate good now.  He learned fast.  He sleeps with me every night.

One strange thing about Jack is that he will not take treats.  No matter what, will not eat treats or play with toys.  Evidently he had been denied those things.  But he is the best companion that I could have.
