I am participating in EFMN's Rise Above Seizures Walk! One in 10 people will have a seizure in their lifetime, and one in 26 will develop epilepsy. It's more common than you think.

Ary was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2007 at 10 months old and has been seizure free since December 2010. At this time, we are in the process to determine if Ary is on the right combination of medications. She was recently at Children's Hospital having an overnight EEG to help determine how to proceed.  Ary will be admitted in August to have another EEG to determine how medications are working and what should be the next steps. With the help of the epilepsy foundation we have been provided with a lot of support.

Ary's school receives education on what to do if Ary or any child may have a seizure. The education is part of making schools seizure smart teaching not only staff what do to if a child has a seizure, but educates the students about epilepsy. Ary is very proactive talking about epilepsy with school mates and has invited classmates to join her team. This year will be Ary's third year as captain of the team and she is very excited.

This year Ary will be going to Camp Oz, which is a camp for children with epilepsy. The Epilepsy foundation helps with the cost of camp and the money raised at the walk helps with making that possible.

If anyone would like to join us for the walk it is at Park Point Beach House Thursday August 1 at 5:00 for food and raffle and walk starts at 6:30. In addition to the two mile walk, there will be food, raffle, a DJ, kids games, face painting and opportunity to connect with others who are walking in support of those impacted by epilepsy. 

If you are unable to participate in walk, but would like to make a donation they can be done on line or mailed to epilepsy foundation. Our goal is $1000, but stirving for more to support the foundation.
