Help me Help Myles - 2019 Train for Treatment - Finger Lakes Triathlon - Get Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi everyone,

On September 8th I will be competing in the Finger Lakes Triathlon on Canandaigua Lake. This event is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center which is focused on treating people who suffer from bleeding disorders.  I am doing the triathlon on behalf of my tri-buddy, Myles, who is a patient of the Center.  This will be my fifth year fundraising for the Center.

Myles was born March 26, 2012 a healthy baby boy or so his parents thought.  At his 1-year checkup, his parents discovered that he had an astigmatism (which required glasses), peanut/tree nut allergy, clove/coconut sensitivity and a clotting problem. Subsequently, after several tests he was also diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia A.  The diagnosis was devastating since there was no family history - the doctors determined that Myles diagnosis was a spontaneous gene mutation.  Myles’ pediatrician immediately made a referral to the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center.

Myles began immediate treatments at the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center.  Now age 7, he is factored twice a week for intravenous infusions of clotting factor at home.  It was a long and tenuous route to get him to the point where he could receive treatments at home.  He sees his ENT Specialist every 7-8 months for preventative care, and has had two nasal cauterizations to control his challenging nose bleeds which are the result of his hemophilia.

Today, Myles is a typical 7-year old boy.  He is energetic, inquisitive, happy and independent and is fascinated with alligators, narwhals, Yankees Baseball, University of Kentucky Basketball and nerf guns.  His treatments at the Center will continue into the future.

I hope that you will consider making a donation to help Myles and the other patients who receive treatments from the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center.  If you donate $25 or more, I will sent you a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies.  If you donate $50 or more, I will add a jar of homemade jam.   A link to my fundraising page is provided below:

Thank you in advance for helping to make a difference in the lives of those served by the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center.

                                                            Sincerely,

                                                            Lynn Sullivan
