Marching for Many

My Why.

I have worked for The Arc of East Central Iowa since I graduated from college-the summer of 2000, I am now entering my 20th year with this fantastic organization. For those of you who are not familiar with The Arc we provide services and advocacy for people with intellectual and related disabilities. I do not stay with The Arc because of the pay, because, let's face it, nonprofit = not in it for the money. I stay for the amazing bonds I have made with the special people I encounter every day. These people have challenged me and have given me a run for my money more times than I can count. I have gone home tired, sweaty, mad, sad, happy and all the rest of the adjectives. There have been people that have come and gone out of my life, people that have been with me from the start and have grown up with me and people that we lost way too soon. Though out the years these special people have taught me respect, patience and, most of all, unconditional love.
I am setting a small goal of $500.00 to help support the people that we serve at The Arc.  This money goes towards programming that empowers people with disabilities and gives them opportunities for full inclusion in the community. Please think about either joining me on March 14 at Lindale Mall to walk in support and awareness or donating on my fundraising page.  A little money goes a long way!
