What is Bowl for Kids' Sake?
Bowl for Kids' Sake is one of Big Brothers Big Sisters' largest fundraising events nationwide! Participants share the importance of mentorship in their lives with their networks while fundraising to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Groups of eight form a bowling team and celebrate reaching (and hopefully surpassing!) their fundraising goals with a night of bowling. Prizes and trophies are awarded for fundraising and creative costumes!
Does it cost money to participate in this event?
To sign up as a bowler, there is a minimum fundraising ask of $100.
This can either be a one time donation of $100 OR a $25 registration and the minimum of $100 raised before the event. This includes the evening of bowling, shoes, pizza & beverages, prizes, and a guaranteed good time!
How do I register?
Sign up as your Team Capatain or as an individual here.
If you are the Team Captain, you'll be prompted to create your Team Name and team goal at this point. If you're joining a team that has already been created, you can search for your team and select it by the name. We'll gather your details and automatically set up your personalized fundraising page.
When and where is the bowling event?
The bowling celebration is on Friday, July 8 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Bowerlo - 100 Andover Park W, Tukwila, WA 98188.
What if I can't make it to bowl on July 8, but still want to participate?
Join us as a "Virtual Bowler!" You can still set up a fundraising page, share why mentorship matters to you, and invite your networks to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. Just choose "Virtual Bowler" during registration.
I am a team captain... what do I do next?
After registering and creating your team, forward invitations to your fellow team members! These invitations can be found on your personal fundraising dashboard. Once they're registered, encourage team members to raise the fundraising goal. Remember, there are prizes at stake!
Share information about the impact of mentoring and the importance of the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. Don't forget to cheer on your teammates and thank your supporters!
I don't have a team, can I still bowl?
Absolutely! Sign up as an individual and we'll put you on a team with others.
I need some help reaching my fundraising goal, what should I do?
First: have you customized your fundraising page? From there, send out emails to your contacts and share your WHY - why does mentorship matter? Get your fundraising page link out on your social media! Looking for more ideas? Check out these fundraising tips.
Still need help? Give us a shout at giving@bbbsps.org.
How can I see who has donated to me?
Your personal fundraising dashboard (and your team dashboard, if you're a Team Captain) will list all those who have given a gift in you / your team's name. Don't forget to send them a note of thanks!
Need help accessing your personal fundraising page? You should have received an automated email with a link to your page. If not, send us a message for help - giving@bbbsps.org.
Can I fundraise on my social media pages?
Sharing your personal fundraising link on your social media is a GREAT way to spread the word. As a reminder, unless someone gives via your personal fundraising page, it won't count toward your goal. So, we recommend sharing the link to your page, rather than using a social media platform's fundraising tool(s).
Can someone donate towards my goal with cash or check?
Absolutely! You can log a cash/check gift on your personal fundraising page. Checks can be made out to: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. Our mailing address is 1600 S. Graham St. Seattle, WA 98108.
Where does the money raised for Bowl for Kids' Sake go?
100% of the money raised through Bowl for Kids' Sake stays in our Puget Sound community. Our $20,000 goal directly supports the functionality of mentorship programming.
Our vision is that all youth are supported as they achieve their fullest potential. These dollars support the work of carefully matching youth with caring adult mentors and providing ongoing support to the young people, volunteer mentors, and families in our programming. See here for more information about what we do.
