The annual ASK 5k began 18 years ago, the same year I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia -- a coincidence, but a strong reminder that as time passes, the ever present importance of ASK remains the same. It provides essential help to families in circumstances they never expected to face, while always keeping in mind that these sick children are still children. There is playing and fun and support around times of sorrow. ASK remains the biggest provider of support to families across Virginia. Please consider donating a small amount if you can; it will add up to summer camps for patients, programs for siblings, travel expenses for out of town families, and so much more.
