...since I picked up my walking shoes to fight against breast cancer...but this Christmas I was reminded of why I started many years ago.

Grandma Zoller passed away 40 years ago because of breast cancer-a time when talking about this type of cancer wasn't really something anyone did. She found it too late. I never met her. But this Christmas was reminded of how strong her memory still is after receiving some mementos of hers-owl figurines. Owls have many different meanings, but one I find particularly accurate in my fight against breast cancer is that owls are seekers of truth and givers of wisdom. They also symbolize the spirits that have gone before us. I believe that fundraisers like this help us find the truth to a cure, give us the wisdom to learn more, and help us celebrate the survivors, those currently fighting and those we have lost.

I registered for the Pink 13.1 because I want to make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer for Virginians. I have committed to walking, running or biking 13.1 miles on October 22, 2022 in Abingdon and raising a minimum of $300.
