Ways to Support

VBCF’s Pink 13.1 is a 13.1 mile walk, bike or run for women and men who are ready to take action against breast cancer and make a difference for Virginians. Participants raise a minimum of $300 and cover 13.1 miles on the Virginia Creeper Trail in one day, educating hundreds of people about breast health and raising funds to support breast health education and improved public policy with every step. It takes support from our entire community to tackle ending breast cancer in Southwest Virginia. For the Pink 13.1, we are calling on all businesses to rally around and support our passionate participants who are saving lives! See below for ways you can support our work and participants!

SPONSORSHIP

Our event would not be possible without the generous support of our Sponsors.  We have opportunities that range from $150 to $10,000. You can learn about our Mile Marker Sponsorship and our other Sponsorship Opportunities here.

CHEER

13.1 miles is a long distance! Our participants need help staying motivated during the route. If you are a business, come out and cheer them on along their path! We encourage you to make signs, bring pink decorations, use music, and support them so they can finish strong! The public is encouraged to cheer along the Creeper Trail as well. If you plan on setting up a cheering station, let us know by contacting Catherine so she can assist with logistics.

DONATE

Registration is open until October 18th, and fundraising continues until the end of October. Support a friend’s fundraising efforts by donating. Or register and fundraise yourself!

ABOUT VBCF

The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation is statewide and state-based. We are dedicated to the eradication of breast cancer. We serve Virginians through all stages of breast cancer: from screening and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. Each year, we reach tens of thousands of Virginians across the state with our educational programs, newly diagnosed kits, free educational materials, targeted resources on vbcf.org and through one-on-one conversations at health fairs and events. We also advocate at the state and national level for the collective needs of those affected by breast cancer.

In 2022 we created the Southwest Virginia Screening and Diagnostic Fund to help uninsured and underinsured individuals pay for much needed services like screening and diagnostic mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds and MRIs.  We also added a Resource Coordinator to help all Virginians get the care they need and find resources whether it is during diagnosis, treatment or through survivorship.

Volunteer Opportunities

We couldn’t do our work without our incredible volunteers!

Join Us

Join us as a volunteer for the Pink 13.1! Show your passion for the breast cancer cause and take action.

We welcome any and all fun-loving, enthusiastic, hard-working and relatable individuals who are willing to contribute to the success of this important event.

By volunteering, you’ll help make this event a success, which in turn will help VBCF eradicate breast cancer. Not only will you make an impact in the fight against breast cancer, you will have fun, feel rewarded and meet some truly incredible people --- survivors, family members, allies and more, all of whom have been impacted by this devastating disease.

We need volunteers for two main tasks:

  1. Helping with pre-event planning, organization, and marketing in the months leading up to the Pink 13.1.

  2. Event day support so we can provide the best experience to our participants.

Email Catherine at catherine@vbcf.org to learn more about volunteer opportunities and to sign up!
