I have been passionate about educating, advocating, and supporting efforts to reduce deaths from breast cancer since my mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer over a decade ago.  She survived breast cancer due to early detection.  Recently, my best friend completed her last radiation treatment and can add her name to the list of breast cancer survivors in my friends’ group.    

I encourage you to know your normal, know the risks, and get screened.  Early detection saves lives.

I registered for Pink 13.1 because I want to make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer for Virginians. I have committed to walking 13.1 miles in Abingdon on October 21, 2023, and raising a minimum of $300.  I need your help to do it! The money we raise through the Pink 13.1 is used to provide funding for screening and diagnostic breast health services for uninsured and underinsured in SWVA, individualized resource coordination, free breast health educational materials; newly diagnosed, caregiver, and survivorship packets and advocacy for improved health public policy and research dollars for the state. 100% of funds raised remain in Virginia to help Virginians.
