Why I Walk

June 21st, 2022 I woke up not feeling well and decided to go to the ER despite being told to wait at home to see if I felt better in 24 hours. Just a few hours later after arriving to the hospital, my labs were drawn and shortly after I was wheeled into an OR for an emergency c-section at 33 weeks pregnant after being told I had to give birth to my daughter within the next 30 minutes to save my life and hers due to HELLP Syndrome. The moments rolling back I didn’t have time to think, I didn’t have time to worry, I had to leave my husband who was confused about what even was going on, and be put under general anesthesia for the c-section. It all happened unexpectedly and fast, but I closed my eyes, prayed, and put my life and Kamryn's life in God’s hands. The c-section went well without any complications, and we had a month long stay in the NICU until we were able to bring Kamryn home. Today I am lucky to be a HELLP Syndrome Survivor and mom of a strong preemie, and I hope my story can help other women out there. While this has been quite a journey and I'm still healing, I am very appreciative to those who have supported my family and I, and in celebration of Kamryn's 1st birthday we will walk for all those whose lives have been affected by preeclampsia and support a cause and foundation we hold close to our hearts. Thank you to those who support!
