Why I Walk
I'm doing this walk in honor of my daughters who would've been 18 and 21 this summer.
My name is Evelyn Walkington-Jensen and in 2002 I survived the death of my stillborn daughter Emeliee, and I myself was a near-miss with my own mortality due to preeclampsia. Then my second daughter Jewell was stillborn in 2005.
Recently, I included my story in a book published by Anne Garrett #Hush: True Stories of Pregnancy-Related Death and Near-Miss in the U.S.A. (pages 63-69) because maternal near-miss/death and pregnancy related infant death in America is on the rise by regularly still happening over 20 years later since my own scary experience! Many survivors have lifelong illnesses with some resulting in a permanent disability.
Funds raised for the walk will help continue raising awareness of preeclampsia. #HUSH #iCount
