On February 1st, 2023, I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia at 36 weeks. Per our doctor's orders, I remained home from work the following day and went back to the hospital for an appointment to determine the next steps. Little did we know that a phone call from our nurse following that appointment would lead to an induction that night of February 2nd. Our sweet little girl made it into our arms on February 3rd. Despite difficulties with oxygen levels her first night and concerns of low blood sugar, our Eevee showed her strength and resilience. The diagnosis of preeclampsia brought on a lot of anxiety, fear, and unknowns. We are incredibly thankful for the medical team for getting us through it and helping to bring our beautiful baby girl into the world safely. Although the worry that came with the diagnosis was difficult and delivery happened much earlier than we ever expected, we are so blessed to have gained an extra month with our Eevee.
I walk for the many families who have, who are, and will encounter the struggles that come with the diagnosis of preeclampsia.
I walk for close friends who endured it too.
I walk for those who have lost their loved ones far too soon because of this serious condition.
I walk with the hope that awareness increases and research is funded so that an understanding of what truly causes preeclampsia is developed.
I walk for us and our baby girl because preeclampsia is and always will be a part of Our Story.
Please consider a donation to the Preeclampsia Foundation to help provide funding to help create a world in which preeclampsia no longer is a threat to moms, babies, and families as a whole.
