I am Carolyn Prill Farrell and I am proud to be running the Disney World Wine and Dine Half Marathon in support of the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
This will be my first half marathon, after completing a 10-miler in Washington, D.C. this spring. I look forward to the challenge as well as the ability to raise money and awareness for a great foundation, supporting people with autism and their families.
The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation focuses on providing opportunities and access to services for those with autism and their families. This work allows for those with autism to feel empowered and capable to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives. Through their numerous projects, they work to re-open the world to people with autism. Opportunities include (but are certainly not limited to) the Spectrum of Sound Choir, which has released an album and performs for the Woo Sox, Boston College Football, Boston Marathon events, and Gillette Stadium, and Flutie Watersports Program, an adaptive program to allow autistic people to build confidence in the water while also having fun.
The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation also offers direct financial support to individuals and families affected by autism. As with many diagnosis, there are costs associated with care and treatment. With the assistance provided by the Flutie Jr. Foundation, no parent will need to chose between their traditional expenses and critical needs that their family member may have.
Any donation made on this page will enable the the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism to continue making a difference in the lives of those with autism and their families. I firmly believe that every child should have as many opportunities as they can be afforded and thank you for your donation to this worthy cause.
