Hi! I'd like to tell you about myself and why I'm raising money for the Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism by running Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon on November 2, 2024. Last year at 62, I ran my first half marathon at this race. While there I saw charity-affiliated teams raising money with their runs, one being the the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. Being a USAF veteran, community volunteering is in my DNA. My thought was to repeat the run AND also raise money for a terrific cause helping so many autism-impacted families! While autism wasn't my family's challenge, we had numerous family friends who, like the Flutie family, struggled not only with misdiagnosis and general insensitivity, but also with identifying autism-specific treatments, services or appropriate enrichment opportunities. The Flutie Foundation fills an enormous gap in helping these families get the customized services and opportunities they so desperately need. Please consider helping me raise much needed funds to help the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism carry out its important and relevant mission.
