My Name is Kimberly Fry and I am so excited to be running with the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism in Honor of my nephew Landon Quadros. Landon and his family live with autism every day.
Back in April I had the pleasure of participating in my first RunDisney event and got to experience the magic. This experience was lifechanging for me because I have never been a runner and I signed up to run 19.3 miles in 3 days. It was exciting to prove to myself that I could do hard things. This time I am running 6.2 miles but doing it in honor of Landon and am setting a personal goal to improve my average running pace by another minute each mile.
When I decided to run for a charity, I wanted to find something that is important to me and my family and the Flutie Foundation for Autism is exactly that. Having a family member with autism makes you look and respond to the world very differently. Landon is much more black and white about things and I want to do my part to help him be successful in the future.
The mission of the Flutie Foundation is close to me as their goals are exactly those that I have for Landon which is "A world where people with autism lead productive lives where they are included, respected, and actively engaged in their communities."
