Donate Personal Care Items

70% of Caracole clients are unable to afford basic hygiene products, like body wash, soap and gender neutral deodorant. These personal care items cannot be purchased with SNAP/EBT benefits. With the majority of our clients living with less than $15K a year, these donations make a difference to them.

Donate personal care items on Sunday, April 7 to help our clients in need!

Carb Up for Caracole!

Join us for our first ever, Pre-Race Heels & Meals: Spaghetti Dinner & Drag Bingo! Thank you to our great friends at Calvary Episcopal Church in Clifton for letting us use their lovely Hannaford Hall to cook up a mess of spaghetti with all the fixins’ to increase our carb intake, play a little bingo with our friends AND raise funds for Caracole’s mission before the walk/run. This event is open to the entire community, not just race participants!

Based on the timing of our 2024 AIDS Walk + 5K/10K Run, we’re giving a nod to a major celestial event by calling this our DAY-BEFORE-THE-ECLIPSE Edition! Things to consider:

  • A solar eclipse occurs when the moon is positioned between Earth and the sun and casts a shadow over Earth. At our 2024 AIDS Walk + Run, we encourage YOU to position yourself between all of the other walkers/runners and the finish line!
  • According to the Farmers’ Almanac, this solar eclipse will be one of the MOST-WATCHED live natural events in history with the path of totality spanning an area inhabited by more than 32 million people! We don’t have parking for that many folks at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, BUT, we’d LOVE for this to be the MOST-ATTENDED AIDS Walk + Run in the history of Caracole. Help us make this happen by bringing all of your friends!
  • 4 minutes 28 seconds of totality (the period during which the moon obscures the entire disk of the sun) will be experienced during this solar eclipse. To beat that on our 5K course, you’d have to run a 1.37 minute mile! (DO NOT TRY THIS!)
  • More than two-thirds of the path of totality is at sea. While our AIDS Walk + Run isn’t ocean-side, you will get to see the beautiful Geyser Lake at Spring Grove!
  • When the sun is blocked by the moon during an eclipse, onlookers experience darkness in the day and a drop in temperature of about 10°F to 15°F. While we can’t guarantee optimal weather during our AIDS Walk + Run, we are hopeful that it will be brighter and warmer than the 4 minutes and 28 seconds of the eclipse!

REMEMBER: NEVER look directly at the sun—it can permanently damage your eyes! You must use proper eclipse glasses to look at any type of solar eclipse.
