Welcome to my Bank of America Chicago Marathon fundraising page! I'm running to empower children diagnosed with cancer and support their families through Team One Step.

Team One Step supports Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services, an organization that provides transformative recreational and educational experiences for children battling cancer. Their programs foster an environment of hope, strength, and empowerment, aiming to heal not just the body, but the spirit. During the pandemic, Camp One Step innovatively shifted to virtual camps, extending their reach to serve more children than ever before—even those confined to hospital beds.

This cause is deeply personal to me. As a family that directly benefits from Camp One Step's incredible programs, I've witnessed their impact firsthand. My bonus daughter Veronica eagerly anticipates her camp experience each year—it's a true highlight of her summer vacation.

Veronica's journey with cancer began in December 2019 when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She faced her battle with remarkable courage and determination. In April 2022, we celebrated a momentous occasion as Veronica proudly rang the bell, marking the end of her treatment—a cherished tradition for cancer patients completing radiation or chemotherapy.

I invite you to look at the third photo above, capturing a joyful moment of Veronica at Camp One Step. It's a testament to the organization's mission of bringing happiness and normalcy to children's lives during incredibly challenging times.
