As a long standing Board Member and volunteer who has directly worked with students over my years of service, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of Junior Achievement.  Their student participants are truly ‘learning by doing’ which is now being called experiential learning, and they are doing this through the support of caring volunteer role models.

Keep in mind, JA helps mostly those who are underserved. So many of the kids they work with lack resources and role models in their homes, and as you can imagine, have limited exposure to the business world.  If that’s the case, how can they reach for the stars and beyond if they don’t have something like JA in their lives to expose them to the world beyond their current situations?

JA has managed to stay relevant for over 100 years with the NJ JA offices now having their first ever Education Center in the middle of business park where tens of thousands of students take field trips to each year.  They are constantly creating new and redeveloping programs and curriculum to evolve with the times but always stay true to their pillars for  young people to hone their money management, work readiness, and entrepreneurial skills. JA is fulfilling many educational gaps in preparing our youth for future success that our schools are simply not doing. Why? That’s because teachers are teaching for test taking vs. real life skill building. Last year alone the center had 70,000 students come through their doors at the Center.
