Special Olympics and organizations like it are near and dear to my heart and deeply important to my family. Many of you had the pleasure of knowing my Uncle Mike, and to know him was to love him. He spent so much time participating in Special Olympics sporting events for majority of his life, especially excelling in swimming like his older sister and younger brother. Special Olympics gave him a strong community, passion for sports, crucial friendships, and confidence in himself. The kind of enrichment and self-esteem that comes form participating in Special Olympics is so important for our differently abled friends.This year will mark a decade since my uncle left this Earth, and I plunge for him!
On Sunday, March 3, 2024 I will participate in the 2024 Chicago Polar Plunge, one of the city's most popular winter fundraising events! I am excited to take on the challenge of the Chicago Polar Plunge and jump into Lake Michigan’s chilly waters to support thousands of Chicagoans who participate in Special Olympics Chicago/Special Children’s Charities programs. With your support, people with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to discover new strengths, abilities, and accomplishments.
