Never could I have imagined that I would lose one of my children. And certainly not to cancer. Not as a child! None of it makes sense & yet it is my reality and a reality for far too many kids, too many families.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. Not a family event that we don’t feel his absence. He should be here. There should have been a cure. There should have been effective and non-toxic treatments available. But there weren’t. No matter where we would have gone in the world (and we would have gone anywhere) or how much we would have spent (and there was no amount too large), Sebastian’s only treatment option was over 40 years old at the time of his diagnosis. Today, almost a decade later, kids facing the same diagnosis receive the same treatment. With all the medical advancements over the last 50 years, childhood cancer treatments still lag behind. Many remain highly toxic and ultimately ineffective. Kids deserve better and we can help by raising awareness and funds!
