Please state the reason(s) you are supporting Project GRAD Akron and raising funds for the scholarship fund. The mission of Project GRAD Akron truly resonates with me. A system that provides supports and scholarships for underrepresented students allows our kids to gain the necessary skills to create their own seats, have limitless options and start “Good Trouble”.
Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you: Mrs. Dorothy Brown inspired me to become an English teacher. She was down to earth, supportive, caring and treated us like we were her own daughters. She made lessons relatable and she opened up her classroom during her lunch and planning periods if we needed to get away from high school noise.
What were some of your most enjoyable times in school? (preschool through college): My most enjoyable times were building relationships with teachers. Having deep conversations in offices and classrooms; talking about the future-those were the best!
Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self? I would say “Don’t get caught up in outside distractions. Focus on your dreams and goals and pursue them relentlessly.”
