Why I Walk

I never knew what preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome was until I had it. I almost lost my life because of it. I always say, my son gave up his life to save mine. Severe Preeclampsia is the condition I had with my oldest that landed me in the hospital. It caused my placenta to abrupt which ended in a still birth. My doctor told me only one of us was going to come out alive and thats the sad reality with alot of those cases. Preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome is one the leading causes of maternal mortality rates and we do not have answer as to why. We dont know what causes it and we dont know what can do to prevent it. That is why I walk every year; to get these answers. I want to raiase money for reasearch to one day get these answers. I also walk to educate women of the early warning signs. The more education we care get to women about preeclampsia, the better. No woman should ever have to life the rest of her life without her child.
