Why I Walk

In 2020 and 2023 I experienced Postpartum Preeclampsia after only minor issues during both of my pregnancies. 
Both of these experiences were scary, even more so the second time when I knew what was happening. This illness affects more than just the mother. It affects the family as whole. Women who go through this are also at an increased risk for chronic illness the rest of their lives. 
I am participating in the 2024 Promise Walk to support research into the "why" behind preeclampsia, raise awareness of the illness, and try to create change in women's healthcare.
