Why I Walk

In November of 2019, I was 21 weeks pregnant when I went in for a routine prenatal visit.  My pregnancy had been normal, but my blood pressure that day was not.  I went in for a recheck later that afternoon and it was even higher, and I was admitted to Meriter Hospital later that day, where I was diagnosed with early onset preeclampsia.

A week later we returned home with empty arms and hearts full of sorrow.  I have since gone on to have two normotensive prengancies and two wonderful children, Lizzy and Ethan.  I credit that to wonderful care and a low dose of aspirin.

Preeclampsia took my child from me before she was even born, and without my primary pregnancy provider at GHC, and the wonderful MFM team at Meriter, I have no doubt that it would have taken my life too.  Because my symptoms were taken seriously, I am here today.

I support the Preeclampsia Foundation because every patient deserves the care I received.  I hope that the research they support will make it so nobody has to go through what I did.  Please join me in supporting this cause this September.
