Name: Quincy Randolph

Company: RND Coffee

Title:  Culinary Director + Managing Partner

Goal: $1,000

Why I am Participating:

Everyone knows someone affected by breast cancer, and I am no different. My name is Quincy Randolph, and I'm a restaurateur operating multiple small community-oriented businesses. Between my grandparents, aunts, and my own mother, breast cancer has always been a topic of concern and constant worry in my family.. Especially given the fact that black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer. By participating in Sole Star, I hope to use what little platform I have to help spread awareness about early detection and routine check-ups for all
women.

What is a Sole Star?

The Sole Stars campaign engages leaders in our communities as representatives in the fight against breast cancer.  During the month-long campaign, each Sole Star will raise or give a minimum of $1,000, which will be used to support the work of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF.) The money raised through the Roanoke Sole Stars campaign will pay for breast health services like diagnostic mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and biopsies for uninsured and underinsured women in Southwest Virginia.

Sole (noun): the undersurface of a shoe; the sole is meant to provide footwear with the necessary support, giving traction and protection from the surfaces it will be in contact with.
