I'm so excited to head back home to the BEST CITY IN THE WORLD and run my second marathon in Chicago. It's an honor to run for Team Resilience because this organization holds a special place in my heart-- it ignited my passion for mental health advocacy as a high school student. Working with our school's Guidance Counselor, our Erika's Lighthouse Club helped develop various campaigns to promote mental wellness and normalize mental health issues commonly faced by teens, such as depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout. Through illuminating experiences that often occur in silence, we sought to encourage those struggling to reach out for support. It was through Erika's Lighthouse that I applied my fascination for Clinical Psychology for the first time, and I credit my current path toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor to my time as ELH President. Erika's Lighthouse is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression. We are dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. We create middle school and high school teen depression awareness programs so educators and teens can create safe spaces to learn about depression, letting students know they are never alone, and there is somewhere to turn.
