Support My Fundraising Efforts

Support me as I challenge myself to raise awareness and educate teens about depression. I am running the Chicago marathon to honor my younger brother, Grant DeHoogh. Grant passed away in March 2021 from a drug overdose after a battle with depression and anxiety. He had recently graduated from the University of North Texas pharmacy school and was newly married. He was handsome, funny, smart, athletic, outgoing and had the support of great family and friends. Grant was a young man that many around him admired. Unfortunately, he struggled with depression and anxiety more than we were aware. He could have benefited from more support and resources similar to what Erika’s Lighthouse provides. We miss Grant daily. By running this race; I hope to honor Grant and raise money to help others who may be struggling with similar mental health issues. Grant would have loved to run this marathon and I am grateful to run in memory of him.

Erika's Lighthouse is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression. We are dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. We create middle school and high school teen depression awareness programs so educators and teens can create safe spaces to learn about depression, letting students know they are never alone, and there is somewhere to turn.
